Glossop Creates champions creativity across the Glossop valley – from visual art and music to food, storytelling, and everyday acts of making. We support artists, communities and organisations to bring creative projects to life and celebrate the culture of our town and its surroundings.

Wander is an ongoing project exploring creativity through walking – inviting people to move through the landscape more slowly, with curiosity and care. Each Wander offers a different way of experiencing Glossop: through photography, poetry, local history, or the sensory richness of the natural world.

This postcard features Sunset Bench Over Bottoms, an image selected by artist and storyteller Clare Savory, from her Wander - Celebrating the Longdendale Tales!.

The route weaves through the Longdendale Valley, drawing on folklore, railway history and personal memory. Clare’s chosen image captures a quiet moment at Bottoms Reservoir, where a solitary bench faces out across still water and hills.

It’s a place to pause – to listen, breathe, and reflect – and one of many quiet treasures found along her path.
